What are your 2025 New Years Resolutions? No idea yet? That’s normal. How about 2024’s goals? Are you following through on those? Do you remember what they were?
OK, enough of the third degree. But, these are good questions to consider as we head into the holiday season. If you set goals at all going into this year, you are likely in the minority. If you remember and have followed through on your 2024 resolutions to this point, you are definitely in the minority, and kudos to you.
I’ve never been big on the concept of waiting until January 1st to get serious about my goals, and I’d suggest that you don’t fall into this trap, either. Take thirty minutes one day this week to sit down and think about who you want to become in 2025.
What are two to three big goals that can lead you in that direction? More importantly, what are the consistent, bite-sized action steps that you need to commit to? I’ll share mine.
- Become a more peaceful and patient person
- Deepen my contributions to the special needs community
The action steps in order to ensure that I am on track with these two goals are as follows:
- Daily meditation in the morning. Start with 10 minutes of silence, and slowly add time each week.
- Set up automatic contribution to Special Olympics Indiana
- Start a program that runs social events for people with special needs
The key to these “2025 New Years Resolutions” is that they are not things that I’m waiting to take action on until January 1st. I don’t want to spend the holiday season “letting myself go” and moving backwards in the name of self care. That is actually the opposite of self care. This doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy myself during this time, it just means that I’m rejecting the general idea that this time is for taking it easy.
So, take your 2025 objectives and pull them towards you right now. If you do, the habits will be engrained when January 1st rolls around. Imagine the progress you’ll make in the following 365 days from there?
